Richard Lander Tribe Ball
20 June 2013
The annual Yr 9 & 10 Summer ball was held in the Marquee at Enys Parc St Agnes in aid of the schools charity trip to Uganda. Held at the St Agnes Sports club, the event not only raises funds for School projects, but profits also go to St Agnes Sports Club supporting sports in the local community.
This year's event looked to be a wash out, as the most rain we have had in a long while continued to pour down well into the evening. This however did not dampen sprits and students danced the night away in the African themed marquee, complete with African Masks, Animal Silhouettes and Bunting. Students and staff also made a huge effort to dress to the theme, with face paints, African dress and tribal outfits. Mr Beech, was the star of the show wearing a traditional Ugandan outfit as purchased on a previous school trip.
A fantastic night was had by all and the event raised almost £1000 to be split between both parties.
The event was sponsored by Printout Printing Services and St Agnes Sports Club Chair and organizer Mandy Kimmins said "Another great Richard Lander School Ball with a fantastic group of children attending, many from the St Agnes area and also playing members of the sporting groups that make up the St Agnes Sports Club. Its fantastic that the Sports Club and School can work together to provide an evening that is enjoyed by everyone staff and children alike whilst raising important funds."
Kerry Elliott from Richard Lander School commented "Thank you very much to all involved and a special thank you to Mandy Kimmins from St Agnes Sports Club. I am really pleased with the funds raised which will go towards the schools trip to Uganda in two weeks time."
